Workshop at Future Everything – 30th March

As part of the Data As Culture exhibition at Future Everything, I will be running a short knitting machine workshop on Sunday 30th March.

The workshop lasts 90 mins, and I have 4 slots for up to 4 participants:

  • 10:00 – 11:30
  • 11:30 – 13:00
  • 14:00 – 15:30
  • 15:30 – 17:00

book a slot here

please note – to take part you must register on the PCE site and log your working hours for a week – this will form your knit repeat.

Knitting data visualisation – log your working week and create a textile repeat.

Participants are supported in knitting their own working data as a pattern repeat using a domestic punchcard knitting machine. The final samples will to be added to the Punchcard Economy samples archive as part of the exhibition.

Participants must sign up to the Punchcard Economy website at least a week before and log their hours for a full week prior to the workshop. They can then sign up to 90 min slots (4 people at a time) to produce their sample on the workshop day.

The samples will be produced on a punchcard knitting machine by the participants, who will learn some basics of how to set up a machine, cast on, and knit, and will of course have a choice of yarns to experiment with.
